"Safe!"The team rejoiced as Barney, the president's dog, slid into home, scoring the winning point.

Among those commenting after the game was Barney's ex-roommate from the animal shelter. "Barney always had what it took to succeed," he said, "He had a rough start in life, but now he's made good."

Barney was raised by tigers after his parents were killed in a freak accident and devoured by jungle felines. Baseball has been very, very good to him.
